Tough1® mini grazing mask (possibly foal mask)

A small mask from the Tough1 brand, suitable for mini horses and rhesus foals the first days after birth.

The mask is made of nylon webbing in which a stiff mesh is stitched. This gives the mask firmness. The bottom has a small opening of 1-1.5cm.

At Mini Horses

For mini horses it is sometimes difficult to find a well-fitting mask. This mask can offer a solution. The opening is very small which causes a very high restriction. Use the mask for a maximum of 3 hours at a time. Not every horse will be able to graze with it.

In Rhesus foal

The mask can be used if it is suspected that it could possibly be a rhesus foal (Neonatal isoerythrolysis). In this case, it is possible that the mother produces antibodies against the foal's blood. If this is the case, it is very important that the foal cannot drink colostrum from the mother. In this case, a small mask may be necessary to protect the foal.

Please note : Check regularly that the mask is still in place and if necessary place a foal halter over the mask to prevent it from slipping off. Discuss with your vet whether it is necessary to use such a mask and how long you should use the mask.
