Shires Breakaway Halter Intermediate Piece

Turn your own halter into a safety halter!

Place this leather spacer between the buckle and the ring of your halter's throat strap (this spacer replaces the nylon piece). This adds an extra brake-away.

The leather that is held together by a Chicago screw gives an extra weak spot that comes loose or tears at too high pressure in panic situations. This prevents your horse from hurting itself in the vulnerable head-neck area.

Can be used during grazing, paddock stays or in combination with a grazing muzzle.

The intermediate piece is easy to attach with a screw. If the intermediate piece breaks during use, it is easy to replace with a new one. Available in two widths. The narrowest intermediate piece breaks open with less force and is therefore suitable for ponies and smaller breeds.
