Soft leather insert for the GreenGuard grazing muzzle. The insert is made of thick leather and is therefore softer for the teeth than the original bottom. The insert also protects the grazing muzzle, making it last longer.
The latest models of GreenGuard grazing muzzles have recesses in the muzzle where the insert plate clicks into place. If you have an older grazing muzzle from before 2022, you can use the leather insert plate without the click system.
Instructions for use (also included with pictures)
Possibly useful or necessary : a flathead screwdriver or hoof pick to push the tabs of the insert plate through the opening.
- Soak the leather plate in warm water for 15 minutes
- Push the first tab into the recess on the front of the grazing mask (the logo on the plate on the front), then push the tabs on the sides into the locks. Fold the middle 'wing' upwards.
- Push the last lip into place at the back of the mask
- Secure the 'wings' to the side with the zip-ties, making sure the lock is on the outside of the mask and place it as close to the leather as possible. Cut the end short.
Important: Monitor and prevent dental damage
We recommend using the grazing muzzle only in combination with a rubber or leather insert plate to protect the teeth. Nevertheless, continue to check the teeth regularly and have the dentist come for an annual check-up. In addition to an insert plate, the adjustment also has a major influence on the teeth. Therefore, read the adjustment instructions carefully.
If your horse eats with a lot of pressure on the ground and teeth, it is advisable to have the dentist come more often for a check-up.
